About our cause
Hello! We are Time To Be Out, a charity dedicated to supporting LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. Every day, we provide help to people who’ve been forced to flee their home countries because of who they are and who they love. These individuals come from places where being LGBTIQ+ is not just socially rejected – in some countries, it’s a crime that can even be punished by death. While they’ve made the courageous journey to the UK in search of safety, their challenges don’t stop when they arrive.
We need your help now more than ever.
The UK asylum system is especially harsh on LGBTIQ+ people. Claiming asylum based on sexual orientation or gender identity can be a gruelling process, with many people forced to prove their identity in ways that are invasive. On top of this, LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers are often isolated, without family or community support, and fearful of the very people they fled from. With the current UK environment growing increasingly hostile towards asylum seekers, our work is more critical than ever.
Where does your money go?
By purchasing a ticket through the Rainbow Lottery, you’ll be directly supporting our mission. Your contribution helps fund essential services like workshops, advocacy, and our Next Steps programme, which helps newly recognised refugees navigate the difficult transition to life in the UK. We are entirely volunteer-run, meaning all funds go straight to those who need it most – from helping people integrate into local LGBTIQ+ communities to providing crucial support while they wait for their asylum claims to be processed.
Join the Rainbow Lottery today!
Not only is it a fun way to support an important cause, but you also stand the chance of winning! Every ticket you buy makes a real difference in the lives of LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers and refugees, helping them build a safer, more hopeful future.
Thank you so much for your support, and best of luck!
Warm wishes,
The Time to be Out team 🌈
